Vitoria-Gasteiz Spain

Vitoria-Gasteiz is a city in northern Spain known for its high quality of life and environmental standards. Here in the capital city of the Basque Country, you’ll find acclaimed wineries, medieval streets, stunning heritage buildings and vibrant pintxos bars.

On holiday in Vitoria-Gasteiz, you’ll be able to spot Spanish architectural jewels all throughout the city. Check out the Cathedral of María Inmaculada of Vitoria – it’s one of the largest churches in the country with a Gothic-Revival structure that’s a captivating sight to behold. There’s also the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, one of the oldest meeting points of the city that dates back to the Middle Ages. In the middle you’ll see a striking monument to the Battle of Vitoria, a significant battle which took place here in 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars.

Vitoria-Gasteiz is well known for its arts and culture scene, and is home to many of Spain’s best regarded museums. You can discover a wide range of contemporary art at the Atrium Museum, including works by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Over at the Museum of Fine Arts, you can find out more about Spanish art from the 18th to the 20th century, and more specifically, Basque art from 1850–1950.
