Punta del Este Uruguay

A playground of the rich and the famous, Punta del Este is a fabulous oceanfront resort city in Uruguay. From picturesque beaches to a buzzing nightlife scene, this small city has a bevy of things to do that attracts tourists as well as celebrities and the elite from North and South America.

The sun-soaked Atlantic coastline of Punta del Este is dotted with beautiful beaches where you can enjoy sunbathing, surfing, swimming and more. Playa Mansa, a scenic white sand beach, has clear water and amazing sunset views. Playa Brava is located on the other side of the peninsula and renowned for its spectacular waves ideal for surfing. While here, don’t forget to snap a picture of the unique ‘Fingers of Punta del Este’ sculpture protruding from the sand. Further along the coast is Playa el Emir, also popular with the surfing crowd.

There are plenty of avenues for whiling away time in Punta del Este. At the world-class Ralli Museum, you’ll get to see exclusive works of modern art, including sculptures by Salvador Dalí. Your summer nights and winter weekends are sorted with the Artisans Craft Fair at Artigas Square. This decades-old fair has hundreds of stands where local artists display their creations – paintings, sculptures, jewellery and more. If you’re in the mood for some sightseeing, pop over to Faro de Punta del Este, a historic lighthouse, offering views of the water and the city as well as a pleasant walk along the coast.
