Leipzig Germany

It’s easy to see why Leipzig has been crowned the ‘New Berlin’. The coolest city of Germany’s Saxony state is more like a creative playground, packed with plenty of exciting things to do and see on holiday.

Leipzig is well known for its vibrant music scene. Here, visitors can discover a heritage of acclaimed composers and a future of genre-defying sounds. Check out the Bach-Museum to learn about the history of the famous maestro who, along with Mendelssohn and Wagner, helped put Leipzig on the musical map. Alternative music fans should visit the cultural centre of Conne Island, while techno-lovers can dance the night away at the iconic Distillery nightclub.

Leipzig is filled with plenty of eye-catching attractions that tell stories of an exciting past. The Leipzig Trade Fair dates all the way back to the Middle Ages and represents a proud, century-long history of trading. Elsewhere, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations celebrates the 1813 defeat of Napoleon's French army. Be sure to climb to the top of the pyramid-like shrine for panoramic views of the city.

Sitting at the meeting-point of the White Elster, Pleisse and Parthe rivers, Leipzig has plenty of green spaces sure to keep nature-lovers entertained. The Leipzig Riverside Forest is a must-see, and open since 1542, the Leipzig Botanical Garden features a massive 7,000 species of greenery.
