San Andres Colombia

Located on San Andrés Island in the Caribbean Sea, San Andrés is a dreamy beach city. White sands, turquoise waters and plenty of marine-based fun await those who venture to this gorgeous island off the Columbian mainland.

Beaches are the biggest attraction in San Andrés, and for good reason. Check out the Johnny Cay Natural Regional Park, a protected coral islet only a short boat-ride off the coast. It’s covered with coconut groves and surrounded by one of the best beaches in San Andrés. On the island’s east coast you’ll find Saint Louis, a village featuring traditional wooden houses and seafood restaurants, as well as relaxed beaches suitable for snorkeling.

There are plenty of exciting things to do and see in San Andrés. Check out La Loma, a small town inland that’s inhabited by a native islander community. Located on top of a hill, La Loma offers lovely views of the Caribbean Sea and is home to a Baptist Church which dates back to 1847. At the southern tip of the island you’ll find the Hoyo Soplador, a small geyser that spouts seawater up to 20 metres into the air through a natural coral hole. This phenomenon occurs only at certain times when the wind and tide is just right, but is well worth waiting for.
