Asmara

Asmara Eritrea

Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea, is a hidden gem in the Horn of Africa that is quickly gaining popularity among tourists. Known as the "African Stalingrad" for its resistance during World War II, the city is a treasure trove of Art Deco architecture, with over 400 buildings dating back to the Italian colonial era.

One of the most notable buildings in Asmara is the Fiat Tagliero Building, an Art Deco gasoline station that looks like a Futuristic airship. The city also has a number of beautiful cathedrals, including the Holy Saviour Cathedral and the Medhane Alem Orthodox Cathedral. The city also has a number of beautiful parks, including the Independence Park and the Martyrs' Memorial Park.

The city's central market, the Tuna Market, is also a must-see for visitors. Here, you can find everything from traditional Eritrean clothing to spices, fruits and vegetables. The city also has a number of good restaurants, serving a mix of Eritrean and Italian cuisine.

Asmara is also home to a number of museums, including the Red Sea Afar Development Organization and the Asmara Heritage Project. These museums provide a fascinating insight into the history of the city and the country.

Despite being a relatively small city, Asmara has a lot to offer visitors. With its beautiful architecture, rich culture, and friendly people, it's no wonder that it's becoming a popular tourist destination.
