The resort town of Ao Nang Beach makes the most of its scenic location along Thailand’s Andaman Sea coast with its sunny beaches, marine life-rich waters and breathtaking natural beauty. Cultural experiences, island hopping and abundance of water activities attracts visitors from far and wide to this paradisiacal spot in the Krabi province of the country.
Within the town limits, head to Ao Nang Krabi Boxing Stadium to witness traditional Muay Thai wrestling matches or indulge in a relaxing massage at a local salon. If retail therapy is what you need, then the town’s main street is where you’ll find dozens of small shops selling everything from beachwear to knick-knacks.
There’s no shortage of things to do in and near Ao Nang Beach. A short drive north from town will take you to Dragon Crest Mountain, where you can hike to a lookout point offering jungle, island and beach views. At Princess Cave in the south, you’ll find stalagmites and stalactites as well as opportunities to go snorkelling and rock climbing. Boat tours to nearby isles like Ko Kai and Ko Poda are also popular here.
Ao Nang Beach has some of the most famous beaches in Krabi. The town’s namesake beach sees an influx of tourists during the high season but is a highly recommended spot to watch sunsets. Railay Beach – divided into east and west – has spots to go kayaking, rock climbing and swimming against the backdrop of towering limestone cliffs.
